To the poster who wrote: Read the previous posts. Then replace your TPS. I think it's pretty clearly spelled out above...

I am sorry to inform you that it wasn't clearly spelled out. You were WRONG about replacing the TPS. I took it to the shop and it was the Oxygen Sensor.

Poster again from June 30th 2007/2009. I am happy to report that, since changing the TPS, I have remained TRAC OFF-free.

Thanks, CarSurvey.org users! *cheesy smile and thumbs-up!*

I have an 02 Cavalier 2.2. After reading everything I could find on this problem, I have to agree with the posters who said it was a "gremlin".

My issue had the check engine light and the trac off light. The only codes I was able to get from the computer being scanned was p0113 and p0114.

I was one of the people who spent the money for the TPS and it did NOT work.

However, I did replace the IAT sensor and after uhm tweaking the connector inside the harness (trying to tighten up the connection to the IAT), the check engine light did in fact go away.

Trac Off light continues as well as the hard shifting... and I'm baffled. I can honestly say I will never by a GM car again.

Putting more money into the car than it's worth is ridiculous. GM should have some sort of recall on this issue as it seems to be a HUGE problem.

In response to the previous message with error codes, I was able to locate this website:

http://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/

which says your codes are as follows...

# P0113 Intake Air Temperature Circuit High Input

# P0114 Intake Air Temperature Circuit Intermittent.

Dunno if it will help you or not.

I have an 02 Cavalier, this is my second Cavalier had a 92 prior to this one. Have had no issues with either one until now, which is what brought me to this forum.

I am having similar issues, ABS light on, Engine light on, TC (Traction Control) light on -- all 3 are on steady now and have been for months with no issues. They were intermittent when I purchased the car 3 years ago. I have only recently started having high rpms and revving while stopped for red lights. I will try the sensor as suggested in previous posts and see if it helps.
