I had to replace the all three coil packs. Tranny and clutch, the floor board rotted out that was great. I had to replace the top, but you can't expect them to last forever. Both ball joints, struts, shocks, but it was all worth it.
Over all the car is aw-some, I roasted a 94 Camaro rs yesterday and the guy was mad about it I thought the was gonna cry for an economy car the cavalier has a lot of performance.
I have never met any one that wasnt satisfied with there cavalier aside from the owners of the new models, personally I don't like those either, there slow and common theres nothin special about them.
The only thing I didn't like about my cavy is the handling, its extremely loose I had to step up to a 16 inch rim and low profile tire.
I recently purchased a 3.1 turbo out of an 91 GTP I hope to have it in with in a couple of months so b afraid b very afraid.
I bought an 89 z24 last jan. its awesome I have done a bunch of things 2 the engine I have over 230hp at the moment. I have taken a break from the engine tho I just bought a body kit for it its sweet as hell the body kits on www.dizaracing.com if you wanna check it out. I haven't had anything other than the water pump go out on the car and the ac cut-out switch.
I agree that Z24's are one of the nicest cars going today!I have a 1989 Z24 that I haven't even had the privilege of hearing it run. I have to do some research and some more work until I get it running in the best shape possible.
I do not have a Z-24 but I do have a 4dr cav with the L-4eng. For a 4 banger it moves right along well, most likely
due to it's gearing being a 3 speed auto w/lockup.
I like the car, seems so far to be easy to fix for what I've had to do for repairs.
A 6-cyl would make this car pretty fast, a Z-24 must be a lot of fun with a 5-speed.
Overall, I like the car more than I thought I would.
Now if I could only find out why the floor behind the passengers seat fills with water??.
Yeah, about the last person who gave a comment; I have a Cavalier Z24 1989. I just love it. I'm up to 323000km on the engine. It still runs good, and it's still got power.
Like you said about the passenger back seat floor getting soaked, I'm still asking myself the same question cause my Z24 does the same!!! I think it's comes from the side triangles window, and then it leaks in the side panel to fall on the floor. Well I can't tell for now, but I'm gonna seal it just to see what it does.
The Z24 is the best car ever. If you wanna see mine, go on Jbodies and look for Kazac's z24.
I have a Z24 and I have to agree that they don't last long, but they are a fun project. I blew the motor in my car and I am putting another one in because I had so much fun while it ran. It had a performance chip in it as well as turbo. I was able to beat any car that I raced. But I don't know how fast I was going because the spedo was not working, but the guy I passed told me he was going 140mph when I passed him I don't know if I believe it though.
