1993 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 review from North America
"Reliable if taken care of properly"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
When I first got the car I had to put a Torque Converter Solenoid in it. The rear main seal has gone bad so it leaks oil pretty bad. The Idle Air Control Valve has gone bad, so now I get to rich of a fuel mixture and it runs like crap. The left front strut tower has rotter out so, the suspension pushed up inside.
General comments?
This car had good handling before the suspension gave out. Straight line performance was good from the 140hp V6. I'm guessing 0-100kph in 7.5 sec.
I bought this car because I was used to driving a 93 Cavalier Wagon which was very reliable. I'm thinking the Z24 was just not taken car of by the previous owners, so now I got stuck with all the crap.
As a general rule: Don't get a Cavalier unless you know where it came from and how it was treated.
