"A reliable, well-priced, and powerful car"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Just typical Canadian climate rusting such as the gas tank, fuel lines and body panels (Due to lack of undercoating).

The alternator went at about 130,000KM (The only time it broke down and wasn't driveable).

A fuel injector port was replaced at about 135,000KM.

The computer was replaced at about 150,000KM.

General comments?

This car has been very reliable. It will drive over 700 kilometers in one day without any problem.

The car has a lot of power for a V6 and is still quite peppy even after 14 years.

All it all, I am very satisfied with this car and will definitely buy another Chevrolet. I plan to keep it running for as long as I can. The way this car is going now, it will be over 20 years old before it is no longer worth repairing. Definitely a good buy!

Update:

Most of you probably won't be looking to buy an '88 Celebrity, but as a tribute to GM's quality I'll let you know how my car has been doing the last few years.

It has 227,000Km's on it now (141,000miles) and it needs a new intake manifold gasket to pass an e-test ($500). So I'm not going to fix it. It's time for a new car. The most problems I have ever had with it have happened in the last year as is to be expected from a car almost two decades old and with a quarter of a million KM's on it. Before that, there were very few issues with the car and even today I can peel out and leave rubber on the road. Try to do that with an 18 year old Ford or Chrysler... assuming they make it to that age. I will always go with GM because they make good cars that last a long time. I think I'll buy a used Pontiac Grand Prix GT (I can't afford a Monte Carlo SS).

This is my first car and what a ride it has been. 7 years and 125,000Km of pure enjoyment and fun.
