2005 Chevrolet Classic review from North America
"A good, basic car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Something electrical that caused the fuel pump to intermittently not get power, it got worse as time went on. Fixed at no charge under warranty.
A relay went out, causing the air conditioning not to cool. Repair not covered under warranty, but it was only $20, so no big deal there.
The CD player doesn't properly eject sometimes, only a sliver of the CD comes out, and I have to pull it out the rest of the way. It only happens rarely, so I put up with it.
General comments?
So far so good, for the most part. I hope the 2 electrical issues I've had inside of 9,000 miles aren't a sign of worse things to come.
It does quite well for a 4-banger as far as power is concerned. Very good on gas, my round trip commute is 75 miles per day, and I average about 30 miles per gallon. On a longer trip, I measured it as high as 33.
A few minor annoyances:
1. Unlike every other vehicle I've owned, the dome light cannot be turned on by turning the dashboard light dimmer all the way past the brightest setting. You need to reach up to the light itself and move the switch to "ON"
2. No lock on the glove compartment. I carry a handgun and would like it to be LOCKED when left in the car, not just stashed out of sight.
3. No indicator on the instrument panel for what gear you're in.
