2006 Chevrolet Cobalt LT Sedan review from North America

I bought this car in Dec 2007 used obviously. After 1 day of driving it I had to take it in for repairs. It had a bad grind in the steering column. They were nice enough to fix it.

2 months later: I had to take it in and have the rotors turned due to them being warped. I only knew I was going down a hill I go over everyday and the entire car would shake. Feels like brake slippage.

4 months later: I now have to replace the rotors. I'm currently looking into replacing them with slotted/drilled rotors in order to reduce the amount of heat transferred in going over that hill.

Lastly, the antennae does not stay firmly connected on the car. I constantly have to stop on the side of the road and re screw in the antennae. I finally fixed this myself by taking a wrench and firmly screwing it in to the car.

PS: The parking brake has to be pulled up so far in order to keep it from rolling backwards on an inclined park that even at it's highest level it still rolls backwards with movement of the car. (i.e getting in and out or taking things from the back of the car or closing the doors) and I've been told there's nothing they can do.

If you want a car that gets you from point A to point B engine wise it's very reliable. I haven't had a problem with the engine on this car and as for gas mileage I'm currently getting about 26mpg which isn't bad. No it's not the 30mpg it says it gets but close. Considering I drive 30miles to and from work every day it's not bad and with stop and go traffic the ride makes it comfortable.

I'm insanely pleased with the stereo in this care it's well rounded sound along with easy Auto EQ features or Manual EQ.

I find the interior of the car roomy and easy to ride in. The center console could be upgraded to something more sturdy with a better material. The instrument panel is easy to read and can be set to anyone's fancy for lighting. The seats are adjustable in two ways which is nice height and back support as well as most cars front to back for leg room. The back seats could use some more room for taller people they feel like they are being squished but on a whole I've slept back there with no issues so I think it's great.

Minus all the bad stuff I don't find this car horrible it hasn't exploded as my Explorer did so I'm good there. There are a few improvements I would do as noted above and maybe they have addressed these issues in the newer models I do not know I have not looked. When it comes right down to it I would buy this car again in a heart beat it's zippy and can go up a sharp hill at 60mph with no hiccups.
