I own one of the original cobalt SS supercharged released new in 04 as an 05 model. Since then have kept regular maintenance And run it clean. It turns heads and has all the power you need. Many people have tried and only one has beat me this thing is fast as far as Japanese tuners they can't touch me modded or not. my only loss came at the hands of a beamer on the interstate. And I wasnt takin it that seriously I just punched it to pass him and I was coming on my turn and he blew by me as I was gettin rdy to slow to exit. Yes the 2.4L is a disgrace to the SS because those are the ones the rice burners are braggin about beeting the SS, but they aren't beetin the right ones. Look for the little insignia on the door then you'll know you can't win before you even try.

Yes, but how many NEW Toyota's will do 0-60 in 6.1 seconds? Do you really think a Corolla could match that? I doubt it. I could find many 15 year old Chevy's and Fords that would embarrass that Supra, also.

20:19 You know, the funny part about that is that Toyota has never really even been interested in the sports/muscle car arena, yet with the Supra, the only real sports car they've ever made, they've made all of the Vettes and Mustangs look primitive, especially in the handling department. On their first try, they made a better sports car than Ford ever did after roughly 50 years of making Mustangs. And by the way, are there really any 15 year old (or older) Chevy or Ford cars, STOCK, with no modifications, that can do 0-60 in 4.9 seconds like a '94 Supra Turbo could? Remember I said STOCK, not something that Carroll Shelby got his hands on, but a mass produced car. I'd be curious to know. I kind of doubt that there is one. I'll be researching it, but if anyone can TRUTHFULLY answer that, I'd be interested to know. And the reason that I compared a Supra to a Cobalt SS is that the person with Cobalt claimed that NO Japanese car, (tuner car, or whatever), modified or otherwise, could outrun his Cobalt. So I simply provided him with an example of a 15 year old stock Toyota that will do it without even using all of the gears.

14:41 Again, there IS actually a difference between what some people want to be true, and the actual truth. Yeah, I've heard of that particular Mustang. Is it faster than a Supra? In a straight line, maybe, I don't know. Can it outhandle a Supra; not a snowball's chance in Florida.

At one time, Chevy made some decent SS cars. A friend of mine works at GM, and bought a Cobalt SS. It sucks. GM fit and finish still sucks, and they still look cheap inside. A Hyundai economy car has a MUCH nicer looking interior than a Cobalt, costs about half as much, and will of course last longer. I'm clearly not a GM fan, but they might as well have just made the Cavalier SS and been done with it (which would have been a joke, just as the Cobalt is). Why not make an Aveo SS, too. One's as ridiculous as the other. It's no wonder they can't sell them.

Get GM Stage 1 and 2... doesn't void warranty and packs a punch.

My neighbor has a Jetta, and it's nowhere near as quick as my Cobalt SS/SC. All I have is an intake and I ran a 14.4 in the 1/4 mile. He went to the track with his car, which has an intake and exhaust, and he ran a 15.1. I have driven his car and he has driven mine, and we both agreed mine has more power.

I have owned both. A 2003 Jetta 1.8T (which never, ever lost to a VR6 of the same year) and a 2005 Cobalt SS.

The Cobalt completely dominates the Jetta in ALMOST every aspect (steering is brutal in the SS). The only way the Jetta could keep up with the SS is if the Cobalt started in 3rd gear.

I LOVED the Jetta with a strong passion, and miss it with a passion, but, there is no way in hell that any Jetta (driven by a driver who knows how to shift) could keep up with an SS in a straight line. Sorry.
