1996 Chevrolet Corsa review from Venezuela
"Good, but perfectible car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Probably due on those uneven peaks loads produced by operation start-stop of air conditioner compressor clutch engage, the sintered belt pulley and damper wheel key slot deforms and eventually breaks the groove & key at the front crankcase end. As this last one can't be welded o repaired because heat would lead it to loose of temple and, consequentially, of specified hardness, I had to replace the whole crankcase which means a major mechanical job (and, of course huge shop bill). Well, the history is worst yet: I had to do it twice and the shop showed me a rather long list of absolutely similar cases.
General comments?
I wonder how General Motors or Opel has not fixed down this flaw in a rather wonderful car. It's not easy to withdraw a complete week salary just to pay a shop bill.
Stable, quiet and balanced cost-benefit vehicle
I'd buy another one for sure.
