1991 Chevrolet Corsica LT review from North America
"Cheap reliable economizer that refuses to quit!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Amazingly just replaced the crappy factory heater core (factory had plastic inlet and outlet tubes) how ludicrous!
Front end starting to rattle a bit. I think it's just the sway bar bushings though, to no surprise seeing how I live in pothole capitol of Canada.
Other than regular maintenance, I have done nothing to this car at all.
General comments?
Aside from the well known paint adhesion problem this car was known for, and the now worn out uncomfortable driver's seat, the car still drives very reliably.
I must admit, when I get aggravated in rush hour traffic every day on the way home from work, I abuse the car probably more than most people do their whole lifetime. Funny thing is, the harder I drive it, the better it seems to perform!
My Corsica is nearing 300,000 kms and desperately begging for a tune-up. Yet every time I start her up and take off, I never even let the thought of a breakdown cross my mind. Considering the way I drive it, it has been equally reliable to my former written off Buick, at a fraction of the fuel expense.
I would love to be able to say that the reliability of the car is due to the car itself, however I give all the credit to GM's amazing 2.2 engine. One of the best engines ever built, next to Ford's 3.0 that is.
Anyway, for a car that's now 15 years old, and obviously been driven to hell and back, it keeps going and going. And, when and if mine ever dies, I would not hesitate to buy another, with the 2.2 of course.
Anyone have one for sale... preferably one that the paint sticks to?
