2000 Chevrolet Impala LS review from North America
"Decent reliability with an uncomfortable ride"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The last set of tires I had developed bald spots very quickly. I rode for several months like that. When I finally took it to a shop, I was told my alignment was off. I had the car aligned and got brand new tires all the way around. The new tires have developed bald spots within 2k miles. I'm thinking bad shocks, but haven't had the car looked at further yet. The car has gone through tires quickly and hasn't rode perfectly since I got it at 20k miles.
The engine surges during medium acceleration/slight uphill pull. This developed at around 55k miles - still needs fixed.
The turn signals will not work about once a week. If you shut the car off and back on, they are fine.
General comments?
Overall I haven't had many problems, but more little things are starting to go wrong now.
The car handles good and is fairly quick.
The seat comfort level leaves something to be desired.
I like the steering wheel mounted controls for the radio, but wish it had a CD player.
The value of the car dropped rapidly. I am several grand upside down currently, and would never be able to get rid of it.
