2006 Chevrolet Impala LT1 review from North America
"A great evolution of a traditional American car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing.
General comments?
As an owner of a 2004 Impala, I was curious to see how GM improved on the car. It must be said that I regarded my 04 as the best vehicle I ever owned. That title now goes to the 2006. This is the best driving large American sedan I have ever driven. The overall package works quite well together. The fuel economy exceeds the previous generation, as I have hit a high of 32.5 on the highway. I average about 22 around town. The performance is more than adequate for everyday driving needs. Everything functions as it should from climate controls to switches to sound system. Love the multi-function trip computer.
Now for my wish list:) The side view mirrors need to be larger. Factory leather should be available in all model ranges. Automatic Climate Control should be available in all levels. Why aren't more interior colors available? My 04 had a beautiful blue interior. And last, but not least, I wish they had kept a little of the Impala traditional styling, especially in the rear. The car looks too "Generic McPlainwrap" and resembles a lot of other cars on the road. But to be fair, so do most other cars.
Overall, I am very pleased with my car and will provide regular updates.
