1993 Chevrolet Lumina Z34 review from North America
"Too expensive to maintain"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
This car has been the Devil's child for me. The thermostat and water pump is being replaced at 117,000. After having that fixed the head gaskets will have to be checked, but the assumption has been made that they are probably blown, which is about $600-$900 of repairs. The fuel pump had to be replaced at about 110,000 miles, which cost about $350.00. I have also had a problem with oil leaks and coolant leaks that cannot be located when the mechanic checks it. I have had the most horrid experience with the power locks. On many occasions the doors have locked with my keys in the car without having been intentionally locked. Something in this style door is triggered to lock when the door is slammed. The interior of this car holds very well. Also, I must say, performance wise this car can "get up and go!" But be careful this car cost to maintain. The parts are very expensive.
General comments?
This car can go and it handles well.
This car is a gas guzzler.
The factory audio system is this car is great.
Locks are extremely hard to open in the event the keys are locked in.
