"Powerful, Economic, Low Maintenance, Sporty Ride"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Fuel pump went shortly after warranty expired ($320.00)

3 or 4 alternators.

2 belts.

Factory cassette player, radio still worked.

At 73,000 miles, the crankshaft split in two and from reading other reviews this seems to be a very unusual occurance... had to replace block (most expensive repair)

Replaced brake pads 2 times, front rotors 2 times, rear rotors 1 time and rear pads twice.

New struts at about 115000, weren't necessary, we just put them on for a smoother ride.

General comments?

My mom bought this car brand new when I was 5 years old. I'm 16 now and even though people from school make fun of the Lumina I just tell myself they're jealous. I've grown attached to the Lumina over the years...It's not a bad lookin car. It has sporty trim and a cool spoiler.

This is a very fast car, don't be intimidated by the size or shape of a Lumina. I have stomped those little pissed off bumblebee cars that have those wings that look like a fin stuck in their ass...I've even beat "sports cars", including a 2002 Mustang V6. I left it at the stoplight.

The factory system (not Bose) is so powerful I've been asked what I've got in the trunk by many people.

In the last 9 months I've put over 20,000 miles on it.

I feel that it won't be long before it needs a new engine, mine is begining to lose power and efficiency (5000 miles ago it got about 32 miles per gallon) and now it gets around 20 if I'm lucky and it's started making new noises and idling poorly and the Chevrolet dealer can't find the problem.

I would recommend a Lumina to anyone. I love it and plan on driving it for years to come.

I'm the one that wrote this review, odometer currently at 140,200. Found my idle/fuel econ prob... bad intake gaskets. Replaced, just like new again. New problem, popping, crackling noise in low speed steers (parking lots). Anybody know what this could be? (one_quick_lumina@hotmail.com)
