1992 Chevrolet Lumina 3.1 review from North America
"Reliable and cheap on the wallet"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
This is all stuff that was wrong with the car when I bought it.
Power steering pump
lock up solenoid for torque converter
alternator
ground wire for fuel gauge
front and rear break calipers
four new rotors and pads (Brakes are much cheaper if you do the job your self. Total cost of brakes was 250 for every thing)
General comments?
This car is very reliable and the ride is a little bumpy, but you get use to it. The cabin is very roomy even though it's a 2 door it can seat four adults with room to spare. The seats are very comfortable. The radio has good sound and is able to pick up a lot of stations. The car's controls are easy to get to and easy to read. The handeling is predictable and it does not handle like a typical front wheel drive car there is not a lot of under steer in turns and if you do push the car it can be easily controlled. The brakes are very responsive probably because I put on metallic brake pads and in wet weather the ABS works well you can't lock up the wheels I tried it. The engine is the 3.1L V6 which has a lot of mid range torque and it is very responsive and has good passing power, this engine is also good on gas even with a 3 speed tranny. Specs 3.1L V6 140hp@ 3800 RPM 184 ft-lbs @ 3600RPM Max revs 5500 RPM. TH125 (3T40) 3 speed auto tranny top speed rev-limited 104 MPH. Gas mileage is 18 city and 27 high way. Body frame GM10 (W-body) 107.5 inch wheel base.
