2001 Chevrolet Malibu review from North America
"Good, but not great"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Brake pads replaces at 60,000km.
RR tail light circuit board replaced at 30,000km.
Repaired flaking paint from bumper surrounds.
Low speed dash fan capacitor replaced at 50,000km.
General comments?
I must have one of those cars that actually work. Yes, there is the horrific piston slap that 3.1 engines have (You'd think after 20 years they'd get it right). The ride is stiff (I like that). The stock brake pads/rotors are bad (my Lumina was worse). Seems GM can't make good brakes and after 30 years of owning various GM vehicles still can't do a decent paint job. But overall the car has done well for me (to date!) I may buy another, now that it's German engineered (2005), but will wait and see.
