1978 Chevrolet Malibu classic estate review from Netherlands
"Very roomy, good and strong car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I was tipped of by a friend who lives across the previous owner of the car.
I bought it intentionally as a parts car.
When I got the car, it had been sitting in a barn for about 10 years;
all rubber hoses were gone.
The cassis was rusted through at the rear end (because of winter salt on the roads)
I replaced the rear end of the chassis with a rear end chassis of a '85 oldsmobile coupe, wich I altered to wagon specifications.
Fuel tank leaked and I replaced it.
At the moment, the engine makes a lot of valve train noise.
General comments?
The car has a very nice ride, and the transmission shifts very smooth.
Interior is as new, except for the headliner; it has come loose.
The outside has a very nice look with the woodgrain estate package.
