1999 Chevrolet Malibu LS review from North America
"My wife bought it before I could stop her."
What things have gone wrong with the car?
You should count on replacing the brake pads, calipers and rotors because you will eventually have to.
The air-conditioning is substandard, but okay "when" it works.
The electric windows are very poorly designed and as a result the driver's side window works intermittently, so drive through windows are no longer an option for us.
The light switch turns on at night automatically and stays on so if you are parked at night with the car running or the key on expect to have your headlights on, cause you cannot turn them off (homeland security thing?).
General comments?
Do not buy this car unless you want to give it to your enemy or a relative you don't like.
The car has very good power and coupled with bad brakes and windows that will not open will make for interesting conversation when the emergency crew instructs you to roll down your window so that they can insert the jaws of life device at the scene of your accident.
The paint job is excellent and interior is well designed and an excellent ploy to fool any into buying it.
