I guess you get what you pay for. The metro is very cheap to buy, and very cheap to operate, but it has its price. It is the most gutless vehicle I've driven (0-60 timed at 12.5s, 11s with a K&N filter). Under warranty, a couple things went on it, but overall it is fairly reliable, as it doesn't really have many complicated parts. I would recommend this vehicle, but don't expect too much resale.
I have the 1.3L automatic. To be basic it's a car that is for the purpose of getting you from A to B. That's it! Abysmal acceleration, hard shifts if you want to get to the usual 45MPH as fast as everyone else. Not enough gears. Who was stupid enough to decide that 3 is enough? Cannot use on the interstate unless you want to go 65, and that's not enough.
Fuel economy and performance plummets when the A/C is on. Engine sounds like it's about to explode if I go 80MPH, so I don't. Rough suspension with noises. Steering feels absent. Brakes are AWFUL.
Other than that, the car is really comfortable, and in the winter time seems like a different car.
