1986 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Super Sport review from North America
"A high performance, luxury machine"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
When I had my 305 in it, I replaced the starter, water pump, and radiator lines. Also, my power locks don't go up all the way so I have to use the key because I have keyless entry. The only other problem I have is keeping tires on the back because somehow the tread keeps wearing off. Must be bad tires or something.
Just this month I had a 350 four bolt main put in and basically replaced everything under the hood. I had all new pulleys, gaskets, hoses, master cylinder, spark plugs, distributer, a new cam, chrome valve covers along with many other chrome parts. Also, I put in a new radiator with all new lines. I then put on new brake pads and rotors along with inner and outer wheel bearings. So, I will pretty much have no more problems for a while.
General comments?
My Monte is a very nice looking car. It is really quick with the new engine in it.
What attracted me to the fourth generation Super Sport was the body design. I just think it is the coolest GM body style ever made. I remember always wanting one from the day my brother brought home his 1985 Monte Carlo Luxury Sport. I finally got one and it is the best car I ever owned. I will never sell "My Baby".
The inside is very nice and room. I love the bucket seats with the console. The radio is in a nice spot just below the heater controls.
The dash is what I like most about the inside. It just looks real sweet.
The back is very comfortable, or so I've been told because I am always in the driver seat.
