1979 Chevrolet Monte Carlo POS review from North America
"Don't be a sucker"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
A lot of things were wrong with this car when I got it, that I knew about, but jeeze..
All typical Chevy problems- Bad door hinges and latches.
Cieling falling down, just like a chevy. Miserable interior. Rattles, broken stuff, warping and cracking of the dash.
Leaky windows.
Junk motor- I know the 3.8 isn't the best, but it definatelly could have been alittle better than it was- about 10 MPG + a quart or two of oil every refueling.
RUST.
This car only had 90k!
General comments?
Could it be the owners before me really trashed this thing? Sure- to an extent.. Some of the stuff I couldn't blame on them, like the interior.. that was all time that did that. All the same symptoms I have seen from all the old G-bodies. It was just like my old Malibu.. Not a desirable daily driver at all. Sure it would be fun to build up a LT-1 for it and race it around the countryside for the cost of Chevy's vast aftermarket aplications.
What I sucker I am!
Would I buy another Chevy? My 1st instinct is no- but I keep ending up with new ones.
