1977 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Landau review from North America
"Excellent car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I am the second owner of the car.
So far parts I have replaced are... ENTIRE brake system (2 disks 2 drums)
Radiator.
Alternator.
Belts.
Spark plug system a good 8 years back (needs a rebuild now)
Rebuilt the carb.
Shocks.
Steering rod shock.
Engine was rebuilt at 125000 (and is still going almost 200000 miles later...)
General comments?
This is a beast of a car in size and weight, but when your driving it... its just so nimble you'd be surprised. So far maintenance hasn't been too bad with the routine spark plug clean up due to oil rings being shot and cleaning the air filter every 3 months or so (K&N) this is a very reliable car.
Also at 300000+ miles the body is rusting and the vinyl seats have tears from drying out, but the car still handles like a dream and won't quit on ya.
Only had it die out once wile on the road due to a 6 guage battery wire simply splitting in two while going up a bridge, otherwise its always been there for me.
