1996 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Z34 review from North America
"The '96 Monte Carlo Z34 performs very well, and also looks great inside and out"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
At 100,000 miles my rear brakes had to be replaced.
One of the rear struts creates a knocking noise, but only if it hits a bump hard enough.
An O-ring in the motor started leaking oil down into the belt housing which caused quite a mess.
The little door on the center console broke and had to be fixed.
General comments?
Even though these problems have occurred, it does have over 100,000 miles on it. Wear and tear happens.
The car is very quick off the line, but top end speed seems to be limited a bit.
If you know what you're doing you can throw the car into a corner very hard and it'll stick so easily it's like it's saying "Give me more".
The exhaust note is unique and quite cool in fact.
The exterior always turns heads wherever I go and the interior always makes passengers of mine jealous.
Not many of you will believe me, but I have on numerous occasions made owners of RS and Z28 Camaros, Trans Am Firebirds, and Gt Mustang owners quite surprised at how fast this little Monte Carlo will go from one redlight to the next.
