Not one thing has gone wrong with this car!
Very quick for a four cylinder. the car just keeps going.
Having a Nova Twin Cam with over 150k miles myself, I would agree with the comments written. Thank you.
Where do I find one of these Nova 16-valve cars? Been looking for quite some time now. I can't even find any info on them on the Internet! Engine and driveline parts must be close to impossible to find. I just have a normal 1.6-liter 8-valve 4alc car (152k). Thank you in advance.
Hello.
I am about to tell a short story which eventually leads to talking about a 1988 twin cam nova, bear with me:
In 1987 my grandparents bought a basic gray Nova new. When my aunt and uncle gave my grandma their fully loaded 1994 Toyota Camry, my family got the Nova. My mom drove it until my sister turned 16 (now 22) and she drove it until the engine blew due to lack of oil (she took a 400 mile trip without telling my Mom and Dad).
We paid about $1200 to get the engine replaced and my sister took little care of it until she got in a horrible accident 2 years ago. Somebody T-boned the drivers side, breaking my sister's pelvis and wedging her in between the shifter and the door.
My sister made a smooth recovery (Thank God), but the car was totaled much to my dismay, as It would be mine when I turned 16 in March of this year. It was like loosing a good friend when the car went, but of course my sister's health was first on my mind.
So, about a month ago, I saw a 1988 Nova twin cam in a parking lot. It was black with the red striping and was faded, but I could imagine what it would look like if it was new. I knew it wasn't a standard nova when I saw the "Twin Cam" badges. I think it is a very good looking car and liked the idea of 110 hp in such a small, nimble package. The motor is very upgradeable too, if you modify it right. So, my search is on for any pictures, information etc. about 1988 Chevy nova twin cams. It's like they don't exist almost. Any help anybody?
The twin cam nova engine was used in the MR2 and in the twin cam corollas and later in Geo Prisms. Check out the web site labeled club4ag.com and 4age.net and the forum mr2ownersclub.com for more information. I have an MR2 with the supercharged engine and that engine code is 4agze, with approximately 135-145 horsepower stock, very quick off the line. The info is very limited for the twin cam, but a little bit is out there if you check the forums for the engine and/or MR2's and Corollas. Hope this helps. Send me an email at scottms1953@yahoo.com and I will forward the web sites I have collected.
1988 Nova Twin Cam for sale. I bought this car new in 1988. Contact hvac1000@aol.com.
I had a 88' twin cam that my Dad gave me when I turned 16. I loved it so much but he passed away suddenly when I was 17 and I had a lot of ignorance when it came to vehicle maintenance. As a result I got a crack in the engine block. My mother made me junk the car and not knowing then what I know now I did, against all my better judgement. Now that I'm older and more financially able I want my car back. That car was amazing and I miss it so much. There never has been anything like it.
If there is anyone out there with an 88' twin cam to sell contact me at katieheddle@gmail.com.
