2000 Chevrolet Prizm Base from North America - Comments

Starter has failed.

Weather stripping around door on inside is peeling.

Paint on rear bumper is cracked.

Seems to wear tires quickly.

Front shocks are about shot.

Brakes squeal even after brakes have been changed.

Wheel covers have cracked and Chevy logo has worn off.

Trunk leaks.

Hesitation on start off.

This car is reliable and pretty good on gas. That's about it though, this thing is boring and very generic. It blends in with everything on the road I don't think this model has any personality at all. The previous models seems to have a little, but this one lost everything. It doesn't have a quick take off and thanks to the 3-speed transmission the gas mileage isn't that great on the interstate. I'm not really complaining the car does what its suppose to do with no problems it just boring compared to a lot of the new cars that are coming out now.

Actually it is a 3-speed have a look online. The Prizm had three options 5-speed, 3-speed auto and 4-speed auto do your research before making comments please-

How did you solve the hesitation on start off?

I have not solved this problem it slowly continues to get worse I've noticed that gas treatment tends to help sometimes.

Hello: Most Prizm hesitation problems can be traced to a dirty or defective mass airflow sensor. My Prizm ran badly when cold. I cleaned the sensor, and it runs great.

I took my car to Forrest chevrolet to find out why the engine light is on. They change the fuel pump, spark plug, filter, regulator, element fuel kit. They return the car to me the engine light was off I drove off their lot and the engine light came right back on in less than 5 minutes. So I took the car back to Forrest chevrolet they put it back on the computer the light came off I picked up my car drove off the lot before I drove on the freeway the engine light came back on again. This happend at least 2-4 times. Finally the manager took responsibility to find why the engine light keeps coming on. I picked up my car again the engine light was off for 2 1/2 months. After 2 1/2 months the engine light is back on again. Has this happened to you before and what was the problem and can it be fixed cause the sticker will expire and I am back to the beginning. I knew I could not renew the sticker because the engine light is on. I spent a big sum of money and I am back to the beginning the engine light is back on. The car runs good no problems. The only problem is the engine light is on. Any suggestions? Whats wrong with my car?
