1991 Chevrolet S-10 short bed review from North America
"I'm just glad I'm only borrowing it till I can make the down payment on my next car."
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Shifter grinds into 2nd gear unless you wait ~2 seconds for the synchromesh to spin up before you shift. Annoying, and I don't know if it's supposed to do that or not, but every other S10 I've driven did it too.
Dash lights don't always work quite right, especially the leftmost one.
The. WORST. Mileage. Ever.
General comments?
I put 20 bucks in gas into this truck, and it lasted a full weekend. There is NO reason a 2.5L engine should burn gasoline that quickly.
It is pretty quick, if you jam it into 2nd gear and ignore the slooowww synchronizer, but it makes a horrifying "ka-chunk" noise.
The bench seat is fairly hard to get to the right setting, and it's hard to get comfortable in the cab-- lucky I'm just borrowing the truck to drive to and from work for a couple weeks.
It makes some fairly disturbing sounds in the engine, and its shift light is very very unaggressive. I'm used to foreign cars that can stand aggressive shifting, and this truck cannot.
