1985 Chevrolet S-10 Ex-Cab P/U review from North America
"A tough little truck for the money"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I only had a few issues during ownership:
I replaced the clutch twice.
I did a full brake job twice.
I replaced the AC high & low pressure lines.
A pair of blown head gaskets did the motor in at 245000 miles.
It had some rust issues on the roof & the cowl area that I had to repair.
The 4 speed trans costs some gas mileage. A five speed would have been better for gas mileage.
General comments?
This was a great little truck. I paid 1800 dollars for it. I used it as a truck for 11+ years. From pulling stumps to hauling loads to pulling a boat.
The only reason I sold it is because I couldn't find another 2.8L motor to drop in it.
The original box shaped S-10's were great vehicles. I still miss mine.
I would recommend the X-Cab only (which this one was). The standard cab is a tad tight for room.
