1992 Chevrolet S-10 Tahoe review from North America
"Basic, reliable transportation with a bit of performance"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Needed new fuel pump when I drove it off the lot.
Leaking water pump, still functioned, but was replaced at 130,000 miles.
Radiator had a tough job cooling the truck down when standing still with the temperature above 80 degrees and AC on, so I got a new one for around $300 total.
Ignition switch failed at 150,000 miles, and was replaced for $90.
No problems with engine or drivetrain.
General comments?
The truck has plenty of power with the 4.3 V-6. I have pulled several trailers including a 17-foot boat with not much trouble as long as you take it out of overdrive.
Handles pretty well, but a bit too bouncy for my taste. Stiffer shocks help this problem.
Exterior has some rust, but that's pretty typical for a 1992 pickup truck.
Does very well cruising at 70mph on the highway, engine has plenty of power left for passing.
Engine and transmission have held up perfectly. Averages 20 miles per gallon.
Terrible on snow... this is due to such a light rear end and the V-6.
It's a great truck for somebody on a budget.
