Transmission shifts eratically.
Hesitates when starting from a dead stop.
Cruise control does not maintain speed.
Engine lacks sufficient power.
The stereo has enough power, but the speakers can't handle it.
It does look cool though.
I own a 2003 Chevy S-10 with the Zr2 package and I have had none of the problems you have had. I have no problem with it getting up and going when I step on the gas. The Dealer you bought it from should have fixed it.
I own a Chevy S-10 ZR2,and have taken it off-roading on numerous fishing trips. I also drive it 45 miles to work 3 to 4 times weekly, and I have found it to be an excellent little truck. It doesn't have the power of the bigger trucks, but it doesn't use as much gas either. And it has sufficient power to haul a hefty load for its size. Bought in September of 2002, I have only had to replace a headlight, and do the normal routine maintenance.10-26-04.
If your complaining about cruise control and the radio, you're not an off-roader. Your truck is a good compromise between a daily driven truck for hauling/towing and an off-road capable vehicle. By the sounds of your hesitation problems you've got an automatic transmission, bad choice for a lower horse power off-road vehicle. Try a trans-swap to a SM-465 4spd or a NV4500 5spd. Both manual transmissions have a granny or creeper 1st gear, and combined with stock tire size (31") and stock gearing (4.10:1 I think) should make your truck more friendly on tight off-road trails.
Your complaints are truly hilarious, i just bought a 2003 s10 zr2 it's five years old and has 85,000 km's.your biggest mistake was buying the auto instead of looking a little harder for a 5 speed manual. automatics always seem to shift whenever they want, cruise control I never use cause I live in the mountains and the stereo and window problems are minor. If you want more power then buy a big gas guzzler and go find a big open mud pit cause that all I think they're good for. I owned a gmc s15 with a 2.8 in it, on the hiway it was gutless, but in 4x4 and 4lo it went up everything. this new truck for me was an excellent buy, it's small, but burly and easly tuned for more power (supercharger, intake, ignition coil, etc)
