2000 Chevrolet S-10 Extended Cab review from North America
"Gutless Truck"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I purchased my 2000 Chevrolet S-10 pickup new in March 2001. I traded a 1984 Nissan Pickup that had 350,000 miles on the original engine and 5-speed transmission. The guy who purchased my Nissan says that it now has over 400,000 miles with the same engine and transmission without any problems. I never did anything to the truck other than replace the battery, tires, wiper blades and brakes. What a different story with the S-10 pickup. The first year I owned it I had it in the shop 14 times with problems ranging from the rear seal being replaced, the brakes being replaced, the brakes failing four times, the fuel pump replaced, seals in the engine and transmission leaking and being replaced, the air- conditioner failing numerous times and still not working properly, the handle to recline the seat breaking off, the passenger seat not staying secure and gliding back and forth as you accelerate or use the brake, a rear gear going out and having to be replaced, and numerous other problems with the truck. It has the 4-cylinder engine and is gutless. The stereo system works great, the ride of the truck is awful. I feel as though I am riding over a washboard when I drive it. It is very discouraging when you purchase a new vehicle and am afraid to drive it more than 50 miles from home. The purchase price was over $19,000 and I still owe a little over $8,000 and will trade this truck for either a Nissan or Toyota so that I will have a dependable vehicle as soon as it is paid off.
