2002 Chevrolet S-10 LS review from North America
"A repair shop's dream"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Everything has gone wrong with this truck. I bought it around 18,000 miles and it ran like a dream. Since then, things have just been going wrong constantly. Here is a list of all that has gone wrong. All were fixed under warranty except the third door handle.
Cracked oil pan and leaking front crank seal had to be fixed.
Crank sensor was bad and replaced.
Belt tensioner went bad and was replaced.
Intake manifold gaskets leaked and had to be replaced.
Front shocks were leaking and had to be replaced.
Weatherstripping on the bottom of the window came loose and had to be fixed.
The middle vent inside the car broke and had to be replaced.
Window wiper module went bad and had to be replaced.
Front brakes needed to be fixed.
Third door handle broke and I fixed that. This was the first and only thing to go wrong after warranty.
This truck also hesitates to shift down when accelerating. It vibrates bad on takeoff. The steering is also jerky. It makes a lot of fan noise from the engine when taking off as well that it didn't do before replacing the intake manifold gaskets. The dealer cannot find anything wrong with these and says they are normal.
General comments?
This truck has very good performance when it is running. It is very quick. It rides good for a little truck. Cornering is very soft on this truck. If you are looking to buy one of these trucks, make sure you have an extended warranty. You will need it!
