The radiator sprung a leak just after I bought it at about 91,000 miles.
The driver side seat handle was all ready broken, I used a wrench to adjust the seat.
The Compact Disc player skips.
The computer for the ABS went bad, that was the highest cost so far.
The driver seat could be extended for more room.
This is a great truck even for the miles it has on it. One feature I wish it had is the ability to turn off the Day Time Running lights, that did not change until 2000 models.
Very unhappy with the ZR2. On the 3rd set of lower ball joints, and the truck isn't off-road any. This truck is nickel and diming me to death. Only has 95,000. In addition to the ball joints replaced: Fuel gauge sending unit, idler arm, and water pump. Still need to fix driver side seat recliner handle and third door handle... Buyers Beware!
I have to agree I love my 99 zr2 the only problem so far at 64,362 miles is the lower ball joints had to be replaced. THE TRUCK IS GREAT FOR OFF ROADING. IHAD THE TRUCK IN MUD/WATER ABOVE THE TIRES AND IT WENT THROUGH LIKE ON DRY LAND
Love to hate it and hate to love it! Sums up my 1999 ZR2. Got it with 53000 and have 136000 so far in the three years I've had I've replaced:
Fuel pump
All upper and lower ball joints twice
Idler arm and pitman arm
altenator
water pump
both hub bearings
mass airflow sensor
I've had to flush the radiator twice.
The is great when it runs good it hauls good for a little truck, but trying to find a lift kit for it is a pain in the butt because only superlift makes a lift for it. And with all the problems it has with a stock lift it would be a nightmare with a aftermarket lift! I think GMC really screwed their customers with this model!
