1991 Chevrolet S-10 review from North America
"Solid as hell"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
2 alternators $80 each
3 water pumps $20 each
2 rear axle seals $5 each
My failure to replace trans output shaft seal resulted in a transmission replacement.
Normal maintenance items:
brakes every 20-30K miles
exhaust every 3 years
tires every 40K miles.
General comments?
This was a great truck. Delivered 24 mpg on the highway fully loaded and never broke down.
Cast iron heads and block and throttle body injection are a low-tech, but extremely reliable combination.
Finally had to get rid of it after 12 year of Michigan road salt rusted out the cab mounts. I cried when it left, I felt like I sold out my best friend.
