1985 Chevrolet S-10 extended cab tahoe pkg. review from North America
"And on the eighth day, God invented Chevrolet!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Rebuilt motor at 199,000 (due to running hot foe extended period during a long trip, warped cylinders).Overhauled transmission at 90,000 (AAMCO Lifetime Warranty) again at 209,000 again at 317,000.About to need it again,1st gear slips, hesitates when trying to use reverse. The glue holding the driver side weather stripping as well as the headliner wore out at about the same time 10 years. Drivers seat worn to hell, passenger side like new. Reclining buckets still work fine. windshield wiper motor replaced after 18 years. Master cylinder (brakes) replace 3 times so far (usually due to leaking reservior.
General comments?
Under powered, but durable 2.8L V6.
Bad acceleration, takes a while to reach speed limit.
After 18 years of running regular Diamond Shamrock or Citgo gasoline in the engine, I switched to Chevron with techron 100% of the time. That move resulted in lowering operation (repair) expenses from an estimate $800 annually to $100 annually (routine maintenance).
