1993 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer Tahoe review from North America

Lots of stuff: just had the transmission rebuilt, replaced radiator, A/C compressor, brakes have been done many times, front axle ball joints have all been replaced, and power steering rack replaced. Two power window motors have failed. Also have replaced fuel pump at least 4 times.

I look at the odometer and can't believe this thing is still running. We got it at a reasonable price and feel we've gotten more than our money's worth. The transmission finally gave out at 270,000 miles, but the local trans mechanic said it was a miracle that it had lasted for so long. He patched it together and for $900 it's running again. I think I'll just keep driving it till it drops.

The 4.3 liter motor is the "second generation" Vortec motor with the CPI fuel injection and the counter balancer, and it's quite a mill. Smooth and powerful, yet still delivering good gas mileage, it's one of GM's better designs. I keep it going with full synthetic oil, and hope it holds out for a while longer.

The downsides of these vehicles do exist. It's always had a rough ride, and the brakes seem weak. Rotors warp after about 3000 miles, and need to be turned. Handling is predictable but ponderous, like most trucks and SUV's. Still, despite the miles, this vehicle looks great and provides reliable transportation.
