1995 Chevrolet S-10 LX ext Cab 2WD 4cyl review from North America
"Poor design - money pit - Don't do it"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Head gasket blew.
A/C quit working (compressor and dash switch).
Fuel Pump quit (three pumps).
Radiator corroded.
Heater core clogged with corrosion. Must pull the dash to change.
Switch on steering column went out - pull steering wheel, air bag, etc to replace.
Finally spun a main bearing at 120K, rebuilt the engine.
General comments?
A good looking truck! Unfortunately the most poorly designed drivetrain ever. I have always been a chevy guy - they blew it with this one. First, never buy a 4 cylinder pickup truck. It is so underpowered that the engine is stressed out just to do normal driving. Of course it won't last. Have you looked under the hood - you can't even see the engine, it is so covered up with all of the add-ons - that should be a clue.
The body held up, the interior is poor craftmanship, the drivetrain is the worst designed in Chevy history. If you are not a mechanic, you will go broke. Unfortunately, I am a mechanic, so I have spent untold hours fixing this piece of ____.
Spend your money on dog P O O P - it's a much better investment.
I bought a 2003 Lexus IS300. It was like leaving Hell and entering Heaven.
If you must own an S10. Get a 6 cylinder or a V8, never a 4 cylinder.
