To ip from fl.

I just had new tires put on my truck and they replaced the pitman arm, and then they dialed in the alignment for free, but they told me that they could get a better alignment if I gave them the go ahead to pop out the factory round knockouts and put in oval ones. Haven't seen what they were talking about yet, or remember what they were gonna charge me, but it wasn't much and I trust them. I haven't had it done, and they told me that the alignment gain would not be noticeable.

I bought a 98' Stepside 4x4. Proud owner for 4 months now.

YA BABY YA.

I have a 98 Chevy Siverado Z71, 103,000 miles and love it. Had the alternator replaced at around 40,000 miles and it seems that it is ready to be replaced again. Driving down the road at about 30mph and my radio shut off, lights on the dash went crazy, service engine light came on, everything else... Pulled over and was able to get it started again to drive home. Anyone else have similar problems? Just had battery replaced in February too.

I just had new tires and alignment done also, and got the same news bout round to oval knockouts. They are located on the upper control arms, at the bolts. The oval knockouts let them adjust the camber/castor more, but without that adjustment rotating the wheels more frequently will preserve the tires, and there should be no other significant adverse effects. With new tires, idler and pitman arm, new shocks, and alignment, my '98 Z71 w/75k miles rides like a dream again, without the oval knockout that would have cost $150 and taken 2 hours.
