1999 Chevrolet Silverado LS review from North America
"The vehicle does well on the road, has good pickup at 65"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I had the truck for the 1st 6 months, and the Catalytic Converter had to be replaced 3 times. This was at 25,000 miles.
The gas pedal was sticking the 2nd year I owned the truck. At about 25,000 miles.
The driver side power window regulator at 50,000 miles had to be replaced twice in 90 days.
I have taken the truck to the Dealership for the brakes, I nearly hit a stopped vehicle at the exit ramp, I had to go out into traffic and pray I wouldn't get hit, because the truck wouldn't stop. I took it just last year to Midas and to have the brakes checked, still have 70% pads, and have 95,000 miles on the truck. The Mechanic at Midas said that he has never seen a 1999 Silverado come into his shop and need brakes.
The fuel tank sending unit started in 2003 of jumping back and forth to empty from full.
Now since reading these reviews I do feel that my transmission is doing funny things.
General comments?
The 1999 Silverado I have has been a good truck, I really like the style, and it rides very well. Will I buy another, maybe not. I am currently considering looking into a Ford 6.0 F250 4x4.
