Nothing has gone wrong.
I used to live in Atlanta where we had no snow and temperatures never went below 30 degrees. I drove a 1999 BMW 740li which was comfortable and fast. I recently moved to Alabany, NY. After one month I realized the bimmer wasn't working out. I drove an Escalade which was OK and a Navigator (what a piece of crap) The Caddy didn't really light my fire so feeling adventerous I test drove the biggest baddest pickup I could. I knew from magazines that dodge was OK and Ford was a nightmare. I heard that chevy was supposed to be great. I test drove the pickup currently own and loved it. Smooth, powerful, enormous, and comfortable.
Actually if you got your ideas about ford from a mag. then you would see that the Ford F150 has been the truck of the year for many years now, also its been the best selling truck ever since I can remember. All of the contractors I know have Ford trucks vans, one has a chevy astro van. So how bad can ford be??? but in all honesty I don't like any truck made by any company in the past 5 or 10 years. they have cheep thin fenders, cheep thin metal and plastic bumpers and no one offers a plain reg cab 8ft box long lasting tough as nails truck any more. All of the trucks have freeking automatic trannies and 4x4 power windows, fake step bumpers, retarded air bags and all the crap that you dont really need. what ever happend to the american truck? TO me truck = I6 or V8, RWD, lots of heavy steel, metal dash, metal bumpers, 8ft box and regular cab.
my step dad has a 2001 chevy 2500HD. The idiot light for the coolent level keeps coming on even thouth its fine, the power window stopped working at about 43,000 miles ($300 to fix window) and the inside of the cargo bed dents way too easy. The 2500HD is a good truck it will haul a 20ft camper, 4 people and a bed full of wood with out even working hard. If you want a truck that will last for 200K+ then go for a Ford F150 (1990's trucks rock!) I dont know any one that can actuall kill a ford truck befor they rust ou. it usualy takes about 15 to 20 years for a truck of any make to rust out in NY.
Well, I am not sure if these f-150's you are talking about are worked on a lot, but I am calling b.s. From the time I could drive until now my friends and myself have all had fords, dodge, chevys, gmc and I can tell you we drove all of them really hard. I am not talk about just punching the gas once awhile. I am talking about 4wheelin, laying patches at every corner and we even jumped one. Yes things break on any vehicle new or old, why can't people unerstand they are machines!!!. That is why you have a warranty for that very reason. From what I have seen the CHEVY'S and GMC'S can stand the abuse a hell of a lot more than dodge or ford and I say this because we put all of them threw there paces and it was the 90's ford we where towing home with a 98 chev!!! I am not saying ford sucks or that dodge sucks, but I have see fords break down so don't say the are number one...LOL. They are number one in sales because everyone is selling them to get into something better. That will probally make you mad, but that is the exact attitude you are giving. And yes I have owned ford trucks so I know what I am talking about, and yes I went back to a chev for the better interior and power and from my luck reliablity. I am not trying to be rude, but just because you are bias doesn't mean gm's trucks are bad. Hell, I would buy a ford lightning in a heart beat if I could or even a dodge cummins ram. So get your facts straight before you start trying to give advise!!!
