1987 Chevrolet Sprint from North America - Comments

"Awesome car for gas, but bad on highway driving and poor on engine."

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Seats are really worn.

Recent Problems with Wiring and Fuse that starts the car. I went thru a box of fuses in one morning.

Has a nice size oil leak. Loses oil in a month and have to refill with 5 quarts.

New tires are hard to find because they are 12" tires and most tire company's don't make them anymore.

My car doesn't handle on the highway very well at all. It shakes at 70mph.

Head lights aren't that bright for night driving.

The windshield wipers are a little slow on high in a heavy down pour.

My air hasn't worked since the day I got it.

The radio doesn't work either.

I have no right side door mirror. I'm not sure I ever had one. It doesn't look like there is one missing.

General comments?

AWESOME GAS MILEAGE!!! I can fill my car with $15 on empty and go for a week/week and a half.

I like the hatch back and the seats fold down for easy use. (I'm a housekeeper and it works with the vacuum and supplies needed.)

There are no blind spots.

- Check the oil pan drain bolt. It may be loose because of not being tight enough, or maybe the threads are torn out.

Well my car is gone. It broke down and isn't fixable. It lasted me a year and a half and I only paid $500.00. I guess I got my moneys worth.

I have a 1986 Chevy Sprint. When I bought it, it had 169,000 miles on the engine. I've personally put over 200,000 miles on it in the last 8 years. I've only ever had to replace the heads once, and of course the tie rod ends. But other than that, the AC still blows as cold as the day I got it, and the clutch is still tight. I've gone through a few sets of tires as well.

If you drive the car under 55 miles per hour, you get 55 miles per gallon. I drove from Brevard, North Carolina, to Miami, Florida, and maintained 55 miles per gallon the entire trip.

The seats are very uncomfortable, so I drilled new holes and put a set of Toyota Camry seats in the front, and now it's as comfortable as can be. I love my little rice burner, and I'll never get rid of it.
