1999 Chevrolet Tahoe LT review from North America

I had the familiar coolant leak starting back in 2005. Flushed system to try to find leak and never could. Replaced water pump also, but it still leaked. Ended up using head gasket repair and leak stopped. Still cools fine.

Had a strange noise when shifting at high RPMs in late '05. Changing the fuel filter remedied that???

I also have the steering slip at between 25 and 40 mph ocassionally. I have been told there is a sensor switch that may be causing that.

Had to change front upper ball joints at around 84000 miles due to grinding sound when braking.

Starter went at about 87000.

Wheel cylinders needed replacing (leaking) and brakes adjusted at same time due to uneven braking action.

Found rear a/c line leak at around 92000 miles. Ended up with bill at $1000 because line was ceased up on rear evaporator. Had to replace line, evaporator and dryer.

Front door lock actuators seem to not work well when outside temp is above 80 degrees. Hit and miss depending on whether door is in direct sunlight or not.

Drivers side interior door handle broke.

Driver's side rear window motor quit working, but returned to normal after a few slugs with a hammer.

Tahoe has been quite reliable on the many long trips I have taken it on. I love this vehicle, even with the major repairs I have had to endure.

Since reaching 90000 miles, repairs have been a little more costly than I'd like.
