1997 Chevrolet Tahoe LT review from North America

The head gasket had to be replaced right after we got it because it was leaking, but everything else has held up great.

This truck has been very reliable. It is very comfortable and has tremendous torque and power; it easily gets sideways if you stomp it.

The transmission shifts very crisply, and rarely needs to downshift. Tows our 24ft speedboat like it's not even there, and still returns 17mpg in the city. On the highway in overdrive, it gets about 24-25mpg. Not too bad for a 5200lb, 4 wheel drive, small-block powered SUV.

In the end this truck has served my family well, providing nothing less than GM's long lasting reputation for durable workhorses.

I will definitely look into buying another, and with such high resale values I could get a new one!

Don't be fooled by those American car haters who down these vehicles because they have v8's and don't get 30+ mpg. They don't know what they are talking about, and while their Highlander or Pathfinder is broken down on the side of the road, I'll just wave and say "Told ya so!" Those import trucks only get about 16-18 mpg in the city, they weigh less and only have V6's! My Tahoe can do that with a more powerful, bigger engine in a heavier and larger vehicle. All this with superior performance, quality and reliability.

I would have no trouble selling this vehicle with the amazing condition this truck is in, it will out-tow, out-run, and last longer than any of those six-cylinder wannabe trucks from Japan or Korea. I'm not downing those cars, because they are usually cheaper and have better warranties, but let me tell you, those vehicles will need those warranties. Not my Tahoe though!

Hope you go the Chevy route and support the American economy as well. You won't regret it, as every Chevrolet my family has been rock solid reliable with exceptional performance.
