4x4 would not stay in gear one day after driving off lot
4x4 failed 3 more times, once each year
muffler rusted had to replace
starter went
rear drive shaft
alternator & battery.
Bought car because it was cheap and for the 4x4 for use on the beach in Jersey.
Yes I used the 4x4 a lot and it would fail every fishing season for $200-300 a pop, the transfer case was terrible and I took it to 3 mechanics to prevent rip off; just designed badly.
Surprisingly large interior for driver and passenger, but
pitiful for rear occupants, surprisingly good storage room.
Suzuki i-4 was going to run forever, but when the 4x4 went the last time I traded it for a Jeep.
It sounds like you might have used 4 wheel drive too much. I am just assuming, but you may have been using 4 wheel drive on dry pavement which is a no-no. It tears up your transfer case like no other. 4 wheel drive is made only for slippery conditions such as dirt, snow, ice, mud etc.
