2000 Chevrolet Tracker 4-dr/4-wd from North America - Comments

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Alternator pulley at 45000 miles, this

was covered by warranty. Dealer even

waived the co-pay. (Tom Gill Chevrolet)

General comments?

This is one of the best vehicles that

I've ever owned. Still has factory tires (in great shape) at 57000 miles.

It will go on snow or ice, places where

my full size Chev 4-wd pick up only wishes it could go, probably due to it's light weight and short wheel base.

This is one well built, reliable vehicle. Chevrolet's worst mistake was

to stop selling them!

This has been my experience with the trackers and geos as well. They are what they are. If you want a sports car, buy one, not a tracker. I have owned a 1991 Suzuki LS 4 door 4X4, a 1994 Suzuki 2 door 4X4, a 1996 Geo tracker 2 door 4X4, and a 1995 2 Door Geo hard top (a classic) 4X4 as well as my current 2000 4 door Tracker 4X4. My 2000 had 48K on it when i bought it. I love them.

I'm the guy above who owned the 5 Suzukis and Trackers. I just sold my 2000 (which had an auto transmission) and bought a 2002 Tracker with a manual transmission. I bought the 2000 with 48K miles on it and I just sold it with just a little over 106.000 miles on it. I experienced no problems at all with it during these 58K miles except the drivers window needed repair. The 2002 is a VERY basic model with a 2 Liter 4 cylinder (25MPG!) manual transmission (which is what I wanted), manual windows, a AM/FM CD player and A/C (which I personally have to have because I'm getting older and I don't care for the really humid days). The 2002 had 55K miles on it at purchase and I'm looking forward to driving this one for another 100K miles! I love these little trucks! I've never owned a Jeep, but I have test driven a few them. I'm sure they are great trucks... but for my money, I'm staying with Trackers/Suzukis. I think these little trucks will be around for another 6 years plus, even though Cheverolet bailed on selling them. They are a durable vehicle and I've never had any suspension or transmission problems on any of the five earlier ones I have owned either. In fact, I have even had to have one aligned in the shop!
