1999 Chevrolet Tracker review from North America
"This particular tracker, GARBAGE!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
While under warranty:
dome light shorted out.
Air stopped working.
Rear axle bearings and seals went (left & Right).
Synchronizers went in third gear.
Rotors needed replacing at 30000km.
Head gasket went.
Thank god this was under warranty.
After warranty ran out:
Drivers window fell of track, needed coaching to put it up.
Rear main seal went in engine.
Center broke out of the clutch plate.
Synchronizers went again in 3rd gear.
Had to buy a transmission from the states. only one found. cost $1200.00 and that one started grinding going into 3rd gear after only a couple of months.
Rear left axle seals went again.
Tail pipe fell off.
Door locks stopped working including the one in the rear back hatch.
Front housing bracket broke and needed to be welded by a machine shop.
Vehicle never starts in cold weather unless it was plugged in.
Paint was pealing and caused it to rust out in unusual places.
Gas cover door fell off>
At this time I called it quits and sold it for 4500 after paying 24000 for it as a left over in 2000.
General comments?
Although this was my forth tracker and it gave excellent gas mileage using supreme gas and was excellent to get around in the snow I would never buy another one.
