Chevrolet g20 explorer conversion van.
The car is maintained very good, and repaired by me.
One head gasket blown at 200000 miles, on a hot summer day pulling a heavy trailer at 65 miles an hour in the mountains, so it was probably my own fault.
Normal minor repairs (see mileage) hoses, gaskets, wheelbarrows.
A dream car for me, living in Europe you just can't compare it to a European van, it is huge! fast! (yes fast),and extreme in every way. people are looking at it everywhere, some just ask if they can sit in the seats for a while.
Daily driver, drives on LPG (liquid petroleum gas), one third of the price and far less pollution.
Drives at high speeds, everyday, therefor it has stronger suspensions.
Most Chevrolet vans in Europe have more than 150 000 miles and they are very reliable. They are exclusive, hard to find, expensive, over here and therefor I think better maintained and taken care of.
I wrote this above review some years ago, the van is just fine, 279 000 miles at the moment (2009) and in very good condition. Repaired lower body, repainted, lower part, looks brand new. I love it!
I had a mint rust free 1990 DC Conversion High Top Van, and it was a great used bargain under $2000... higher gas prices was the time to buy one. I sold mine recently $500 higher so had fun and it owed me nothing.
Nice vehicle for trips and taking to parks, family together loved it. I only had 77,000 miles on mine, barely broke in.
I now regret that I sold it already... one less vehicle to insure however.
