1962 Chrysler 300 review from North America
"Great visual appeal, quick and smooth for an older car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Since this is a collector car it is not a daily driver. I purchased the car on EBay. It has a nearly perfect exterior and original interior. Items not working are the horn, heater (heater core needs replacing), and fuel gauge. There are no seat belts as they were not required in 1962.
General comments?
I drove the car 1,100 miles from South Carolina to Wisconsin at posted highway speeds. MPG was 14.7 with a low of 12.8 and high of 16. It has the pushbutton automatic and a 413 V-8 with a 4 barrel carburetor. It has an AM radio with a FM converter which pulls in stations very well. The ride is a bit like a pickup truck with road noise and differential gear noise evident compared to modern vehicles. It is a real head turner though with a beautiful black exterior and red interior. It is a 2 door hardtop.
