1995 Chrysler Cirrus LXI review from North America
"Bound for collector status"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
New brake pads at 20,000 miles. New rear wheel bearing at 55,000 miles.
I replaced the original Michelin tires with a set of Michelin Energy Plus at 40,000 miles.
I had the warranty replacement of Air Conditioner condenser, within the first two weeks and warranty replacement of battery at 32,000 miles.
The car has had all recall repairs, including: ball joint-control, seat belt fastening, trim repairs, etc.
General comments?
I purchase this car as a "new" demo in June of 1996. I got a great deal because it was a leftover demo and because it was Orchid Metallic Pearl Coat, an unpopular color (I like it). It has every upgrade available in 95 and dealer trim upgrades.
Read the manual for break-in and you will have one of the smoothest automatics on the road.
I was afraid it would be unreliable due to initial warranty repairs and recalls (and the fact that it was one of the first Cirrus' built (12/94).
In 6 1/2 years of mostly highway driving, and periodic heavy use it has turned out to be the best car I have ever owned in 34 years of driving.
Excellent handling in all weather conditions, excellent acceleration, and
a comfortable ride. Air Conditioning could be a bit more powerful. Factory fog lights compensate for weak headlight
beams. Have had many strangers compliment the car! Can cruise at 75-80 mph without breathing hard, for very long distances. Gas mileage is amazing without oxyginated gas (decent with).
The original dealer was pathetic, but has since dissolved. New 5-star dealer is better, but expensive. Fortunately repairs have been minimal. The car still looks new (never garaged).
