1992 Chrysler Fifth Avenue review from North America
"A comfortable, attractive highway cruiser"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Rear master cylinder needed to be replaced.
Its previous owners replaced the transmission in 1994.
General comments?
Driving experience: The Fifth is a very comfortable highway cruiser; it's quiet and swallows up road irregularities easily. The car does not like curves and the suspension does get upset by large humps in the road. Most definitely a cruiser and not a handler.
Ergonomics/Features: Switches are largely easy to reach, however there are nits to pick. The radio hides behind the column shift lever. The power window and lock switches are the same shape and close enough together to create confusion. On the plus side, the power seat controls are easy to reach and use, and provide eight way adjustments and a two position memory feature that also saves the position of the interior and exterior mirrors. The mirror control is fairly easy to use, but less so than on later model Chrysler products.
This car is pretty standard, but the content level is high: Full power seats/windows/mirrors; automatic headlamps with time delay feature; load levelling rear suspension; storage consoles under the dash and above the rear view mirror, and tons of trunk room.
