1985 Chrysler Fifth Avenue review from North America
"Eats gas in the city...fast"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The suspension is slow and often shudders with bumps.
City driving is costly. Abusing the accelerator is costly.
Wiper motors are scarse and expensive.
Original speaker system disfunctional.
Choke sticks at warm up.
Drove two years with a slipping trans and I finally have replaced it.
Hesitation at times due to old carb.
Small mirrors compared to newer cars.
Pollution concerns.
Heater fan never worked... but hot air does come out when using vent.
Snow tires required.
The car likes expensive, high octane gas.
General comments?
Classic look and design of a different era.
Solid and heavy, this car has consistent handling and performance. Good wet traction and poor snow traction.
The engine is very dependable, always starts, and runs consistent when warm. Leaks no fluid.
Surprising highway performance and gas mileage. A good travel car.
Steering is effortless. A luxury on long outings.
Most parts are readily available, new and used.
Widely used patrol car and taxi cab models exist and their parts are available for stock models.
Luxury car roominess. Large trunk.
