2000 Chrysler Intrepid ES review from North America

"A car with 1960s technology assembled in the 21st century"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Like more other victims, one of the four windows has lost power and stopped working due to a loose connection.

Power lock on the passenger side died twice. It has the same buzzing noise. Both window and lock problems happened at 50K KM.

Radiator hose changed at 100K KM.

General comments?

Very roomy. 5 obese adults can sit in this car without their arms touching each other.

Generous size trunk. It can fit in two full size luggage with no problems. Cargo net allows you to manage grocery shopping bags and small items.

Acceleration is below par with this car. They claim the 2.7 V6 engine pumps out 200 HP, but with weight, there is hardly any power left for the driver, though it still better than the inline 4 you get from Korea.

Body roll is always a problem since the first on the road. It rolls even worse than the Caravan. Understeer is always noticeable no matter how slow you turn in a corner. Both due to its nose heavy design like most American cars, and poorly engineered suspension.

Very bouncy ride, and it gets worse as it ages. It almost feels like I'm riding on one of those exercise balls at the gym. If I have a child, he'll probably throw up because of motion sickness before we arrive the destination. Though the suspension is soft, but not exactly comfy. Somehow the engineers at Dodge/Chrsyler manage to build a suspension so soft that also picks up all the small vibrations and sends it to the driver.

A fair comment. I think mine is one of those rare breed that does not have any major mechanical breakdowns, at least so far. The engine is running smooth and is just as quiet as day 1. Transmission is sluggish, but no break downs at all.

Fuel economy is not really that bad. Given this is an American V6 engine. It can hit 23-25 MPG on highway.
